Dr. McLaughlin was born in Philadelphia and raised in New Jersey where he and his wife later raised their family of four children. Dr. McLaughlin graduated cum laude from Fairfield University (CT) with a BS in Biology and obtained his MD at Creighton University (NE). He completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania-Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia. Prior to relocating to Southwest Florida, Dr. McLaughlin spent over 30 years evaluating and treating gastrointestinal and digestive diseases as a staff member of Virtua and Inspira Hospital Systems in South New Jersey.

Dr. McLaughlin is double Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is licensed in New Jersey and Florida. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and specializes in the diagnosis of difficult-to-identify cases and effectively treats symptoms of diarrheal disorders and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D). He is recognized for his empathy and precision as a diagnostician of common-place as well as complicated or previously undiagnosed diseases. Throughout his career, Dr. McLaughlin has performed more than 25,000 endoscopic procedures.

Dr. McLaughlin was voted “Top Doc” in gastroenterology by South Jersey Magazine and is recognized as an authority on, and has spoken on, the topic of chronic pancreatitis and maldigestive disorders. In addition to spending time with family and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles, his other interests include being an active board member of The Joseph Fund, whose mission is to provide education, financial assistance, and housing for underprivileged individuals and their families.
