Rya Kaplan, M.D.Rya Kaplan, MD is originally from outside Philadelphia but moved to Hilton Head Island, SC with her family during high school. She then attended undergraduate college at Duke University in Durham, NC where she graduated cum laude. She now comes to Naples from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC where she completed Medical School, Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship training. Her professional interests include general gastroenterology and hepatology and the novel procedure endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). EUS is used to diagnose and stage many types of cancer as well as diagnose certain lung, pancreas and biliary diseases. She has presented abstracts of her work in EUS at the international gastroenterology meeting Digestive Disease Week and is the author of articles including a case report of an unusual complication of a PEG feeding tube and a study on a bowel preparation for colonoscopy. She is currently board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and board-eligible in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. She is on staff at both Naples Community Hospital and North Collier Hospital, with offices nearby both locations.
