Anesthesia Service
Anesthesia is provided by board certified anesthesiologists from Collier Anesthesia.
Medical Services Available at Gulfstore Endoscopy Center
- Twenty-Four Hour pH Esophageal Monitoring measures acidic gastro- esophageal reflux (GER). It is useful in patients with: 1) persistent heartburn despite therapy, 2) atypical symptoms of heartburn (cough, asthma, hoarseness, chest pain), or 3) patients in whom anti-reflux surgery is planned.
- Esophageal Manometry measures esophageal pressures and function. It is useful to evaluate dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing) in patients who have no endoscopic abnormality of the esophagus. Esophageal manometry is essential prior to anti-reflux surgery to confirm adequate function (peristalsis) of the esophagus.

- Anorectal manometry and biofeedback measures anal sphincter pressure and allows assessment of function. It is an essential test to evaluate patients with fecal incontinence. Biofeedback provides a noninvasive means to treat fecal incontinence.
- Video capsule endoscopy allows visualization of the small bowel by swallowing a miniature video camera (the size of a vitamin pill) which travels the extent of the small intestine taking photographs which are transmitted electronically to a receiving device worn on waist
- Colonoscopy is technique which uses flexible fiberoptic instrument to examine the entire colon (large intestine) while patient is sedated.
- Esophagogastrodudodenoscopy is technique which uses flexible fiberoptic instrument to examine the esophagus, stomach and duodenum while patient is sedated.
- Endoscopic ultrasound is a device that allows use of ultrasound technology on the tip of endoscopic probes. This technique allows complete staging of cancers and evaluation of lesions that cannot be adequately evaluated by any other technology.
These tests may be scheduled directly by calling GEC at 435-9330. The results will be reviewed by a gastroenterologist and forwarded to the ordering physician. GI consultation will not be performed unless requested by the ordering physician. |
